Presentation Plaque

I wouldn't bother posting a plaque, but my commercial customer wanted something uniquely Alaskan for a presentation.   It was a great application for the resawn spalted Birch I have been working with.

The Birch needs to be dry to work with, but it gets the fungal growth by being wet.  That means a few months of drying under the shop before cutting and then another couple of months for the resawn lumber to dry at room temperature.

As you can see, the result is pretty amazing grain.

The plaque will have a glass panel attached on the front and a bronze statue set on the shelf.
