The Manly Bath

Small room, big project

.

At the tear-down stage... going to make a walk-in shower. It's amazing how compliant a tub becomes after a few dozen whacks with an 8lb sledge.

Update 5/4: Wow, time flies. Had a lot going on recently, so only yesterday finished pouring the new shower pan and then get ready to lay the tile. It is going up to the ceiling, so I have about 90 sq feet to install.

I had been a little too much in a hurry to put up the Hardiboard, and had to take off the bottom panels and line them with 6mil plastic. I feel much better now that we won't have any leak problems. --Do it right, sleep at night.

The new cherry cabinet is finished and the toilet is ready to install, flooring laid and about ready for a new picture.

Lots of time cutting about a hundred tiles, but it's looking good--clean up and grouting left.

The floor of shower, bathroom flooring and new toilet installed.  I'm about ready to install the cherry countertop and hammered copper sink.

Unfortunately, bringing the wall out 3/4 inch so it was actually FLAT, caused the toilet not to fit.  I cut out a hole for it, but will have to engineer a solution for moving the whole section of wall behind toilet in about an inch.

  Tile complete, floor done.

Cherry top and copper sink installed.

After getting all the plumbing finished, I was excited to be almost done -- but no.

The existing electrical was somewhat of a  DIY foobar.  They didn't seem to think boxes were necessary for little things like a splice of the power leg to three destinations.  Just hanging there in the wall with a bunch of tape around it.

I will install some 2x4 support for the new boxes and get it wired up in the true manly form.  ;o)
Better get this done quick, I've got 21 kitchen cabinets to build this Summer.

Reflected in the mirror you see the opposite wall with the metal sculpture.

The above-tank cabinet... Dovetailed cherry.
